Scrumpy Willow and the Singing Kettle
...I don't know why, but I always feel drawn to places with poetic names!Scrumpy Willow and the Singing Kettle is a small cafe that's recently opened on Clayton Street, with the ethos of using locally sourced sourcing everything locally, and using organic ingredients. Since there are a few of us that have similar feelings on the environment, and anti-globalisation, we decided to make a group lunchtime outing (as an alternative to the morally dubious weekly Friday Subway!) Initially, their menu can be somewhat confusing (and possibly intimidating) due to it's "pick the ingredients you want" style, but it does mean you have the full choice of what you end up with. Unfortunately, they'd not received a delivery this morning, and I don't think they were quite ready for a group of eight to appear at once, so some of our orders ended up a bit garbled (my roast beef, mushroom and pepper sandwich mysteriously transmogrified into a ham, pepper and mashed potato sandwich - not a combination I'd ever imagine, but surprisingly tasty!) - I got a free strawberry muffin as an apology, which I haven't eaten yet, but looks good!
Other than what I'm hoping are just initial teething problems, we were pretty pleased with our visit, and I think I'll go along again (probably just Tash and myself) when they've had more chance to settle in!

Quick Review: M&S Steam Cuisine Chicken CarbonaraAfter the well cooked, but somewhat taste-free microwave meal that I had last Thursday, today I decided to opt for "Chicken carbonara, mushrooms, spinach & smoked bacon with pasta" |
Quick Review: M&S Steam Cuisine Sweet chilli chicken
One of the "joys" of working late nights is free microwavable food provided for us. To make this a bit more interesting, I've decided to make reviews of what I've been eating. To start it off we have Marks & Spencer Steam Cuisine Sweet chilli chicken. |
Freeview recievers
In the last few weeks I've had no less than four Freeview recievers, whilst trying to pick up digital TV (two Philips boxes that were both faulty, a Digi Fusion one that was just plain useless, and a Sony one that we're pretty pleased with.)
You can read the review of all three different devices here
